Individual Differences in Affective Forecasting Under Stress

Despite the pervasiveness of affective forecasting, it is unknown how people mentally represent stressful events when predicting how they will feel. This study reveals moderate individual differences in mental representations of tasks during affective forecasting, and suggests that anticipating stress may influence the extent to which people simulate the process of completing a task during affective forecasting.
