摘要
•A high-fat diet compromises mitochondrial metabolism, impairing thermogenesis.•Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)α and PPARα/γ activation induced browning of subcutaneous white adipose tissue.•PPARα and PPARα/γ agonists activated UCP1-dependent and -independent pathways in beige adipocytes.•PPARα and PPARα/γ agonists preserved mitochondrial metabolism and mitophagy capacity.•The maintenance of the beige phenotype under PPAR activation may have clinical applications.
