A path transmission algorithm for the mobile Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks based on MPTCP

The Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) is an interactive wireless network based on vehicle location, speed, route and other information. The traditional VANETs generally uses single path for data transmission. However, there is a communication interruption issue with this transmission method during the switching process, which will seriously affect the quality of service of the vehicle network. In order to solve the problem of unstable data transmission in the VANETs, some scholars put forward the idea use multi-path Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) in VANETs. However, researchers often neglect some potential influencing factors when constructing multi-path vehicle network transmission algorithm. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a path management algorithm for vehicle networking based on path characteristics and signal characteristics(PCSC). The algorithm mainly includes three functional modules, which are distance identification module, communication path evaluation module and communication path selection module. In order to verify the performance of the algorithm, we designed a simulation experiment of vehicle movement in the software Mininet-WiFi. The results show that PCSC algorithm has higher flexibility in path selection than traditional MPTCP algorithm and existing path transmission algorithm. And PCSC algorithm performs better in the overall data transmission.
