Abstract
Phase-change materials (PCMs) along with the huge development in nanofabrication techniques over the latest decade are at the basis for the development of reconfigurable photonic devices. PCMs exhibit the ability to undergo rapid and reversible changes between crystalline and amorphous phases, which results in distinct optical properties. These phase transitions can be induced thermally, electrically, or through pulsed laser irradiation. Consequently, to accurately model and design reconfigurable photonic devices, it is essential to determine the dielectric function of PCMs in both their crystalline and amorphous phases. Here we present the dielectric function of crystalline and amorphous phases of emerging PCM gallium monosulfide (GaS).
