Abstract
Transseptal puncture (TSP) is a technique that is commonly utilized in structural heart interventions. Although rare, TSP can occasionally cause unintended perforations of the atrial wall, leading to severe complications like cardiac tamponade.1 However, there is no standardized approach for managing iatrogenic punctures during structural heart interventions. We present a case of a left atrial perforation which occurred during TSP which was immediately successfully repaired using an Amplatzer septal occluder (Abbott Laboratories, Illinois, USA).
