The increasing trend of long distance and high energy consumption is shown by the world's metro. An accurate calculation of energy consumption is the key premise for metro energy saving and consumption reduction, with traction energy consumption (TEC) occupies about 45%similar to 60% of the total metro energy consumption. Therefore, this paper proposes a quantitative model of metro TEC based on dynamic passenger flow (PF) characteristics. Based on the analysis of the dynamic distribution characteristics of metro PF, a mathematical relationship between dynamic PF and TEC was established to characterize and quantify its impact on TEC. Secondly, a calculation model of TEC considering regenerative braking energy (RBE) feedback utilization is proposed. By introducing dynamic PF, the energy consumption of section traction is calculated quantitatively. Finally, an actual metro line with test parameters is selected for the analysis of the calculation example. The simulation results show that the proposed model can improve the calculation accuracy compared with the traditional quantification method, and the net energy consumption calculation error is 3.73%. The model can be used to calculate the TEC of the metro under the current operating strategy.
