Factors Influencing Mobile Banking Usage in Indonesia

In recent years, there has been a significant evolution in technology that had a tremendous impact on society as a whole. One particular area greatly influenced by this transformation is the banking sector. Recognizing the potential, banks have swiftly embraced technological advancements to provide enhanced services through digital banking. Mobile banking has become increasingly popular in the country. For both researchers and banking industry practitioners, comprehending the factors that influence the use of mobile banking is essential. The purpose of this study is to investigate the elements that affect Indonesians' use of mobile banking. This research focuses on several important factors, including perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, privacy and security concerns, perceived trust, and social influence. It uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as its theoretical foundation. Data was collected from 393 Indonesian respondents as a sample of Indonesian mobile banking users through a Google Form survey. The results supported four hypotheses, while one hypothesis did not support this study. These findings offer valuable insights for banks to improve their services and attract more users in the Indonesian context. Moreover, our conclusions provide managerial implications for banking institutions aiming to enhance their mobile banking offerings, while allowing for a deeper understanding of mobile banking usage and also highlighting opportunities for future studies in this area.
