摘要
Pipeline corrosion is the most critical factor leading to the destruction of oil and gas pipelines, which causes the leakage of harmful medium, serious economic losses, environmental pollution, and even disasters and accidents. In this paper, a novel pipeline corrosion monitoring probe was proposed based on the electromechanical impedance (EMI) instrumented conical rod. The corrosion measuring probe is fabricated by attaching lead-zirconate-titanate (PZT) patch to the top of the conical rod. Artificial uniform corrosion and accelerated corrosion experiments were performed to study the performance of the probe. And finite element simulation of EMI response and model analysis were also performed to validate the experimental findings. The results show that the peak frequency in the conductance signatures increases with the increase of corrosion. There is excellent agreement between experimental results and simulation. The proposed corrosion measuring probe is a promising candidate for intelligent corrosion monitoring.
