Evaluation of an enhanced recovery after caesarean section care pathway using clinical and patient reported outcome measures

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has created acute and unpredictable healthcare resource and workforce shortages. Proactive implementation of evidence-based structured care pathways with patient reported outcomes is an important strategy to retain high quality care. Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) has been employed in various surgical disciplines and more recently for caesarean section. We report our experience of an intra-pandemic pilot project of ERAS for caesarean section specifically designed to evaluated its impact on the quality of recovery of our patients using the Quality of Recovery score (QoR)
