Abstract
In our analysis of 21 213 radical prostatectomies performed in 2021 in France, the open approach was associated with longer hospital stays, higher postoperative complication rates, fewer hospital days in the 90 d following surgery, and higher hospital costs in comparison to the robotic approach. Irrespective of technique, very low-volume centers (<10 cases/yr) had worse results. Decision-makers could use the results to facilitate access to and reimbursement for robotic surgery for this indication and to discuss promotion of centralized care.
