Abstract
Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image sizeThis article refers to:Translational Neuroethics: A Vision for a More Integrated, Inclusive, and Impactful Field ACKNOWLEDGEMENTSWe wish to acknowledge that the platform we now enjoy to extend Anna Wexler and Laura Specker Sullivan’s thinking about Translational Neuroethics (for Africa) from our vantage point as young African early career scholars, in many ways, is the result of the courage of our mentors. Although we cannot name all, our projects on cultural and epistemic humility urge us to acknowledge and express our gratitude to Clement Adebamowo, Caesar Atuire, Megan Campbell, Jantina de Vries, Christian Happi, Shose Kessi, Laura Koehly, Thaddeus Metz, Tony Naidoo and Soraya Seedat (listed alphabetically by last name). Empowered by the benefit of hindsight, it has become clear to us that their courage to include us in crucial spaces and their brave scholarships pull in the direction that neuroethics must follow to be impactful/relevant in Africa. We also graciously acknowledge our funders: Olivia P. Matshabane is supported by the Intramural Research Program (IRP) of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), NIH and through the African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) Fellowship she is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in partnership with the African Academy of Sciences, under the auspices of the Coalition of African Research and Innovation. Cornelius Ewuoso is funded by the Wellcome Trust.DISCLOSURE STATEMENTNo potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s)DISCLAIMERThe views expressed are the authors’ own.
