摘要
Chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) is the most common source of pain in adults in the United States, and its prevalence is increasing. There are numerous therapies for CMP, which vary by cause but most are either ineffective or provide limited sustained relief. Trans arterial embolization (TAE) aims to meet this unmet need by harnessing the process of angiogenesis that occurs in these conditions secondary to inflammation, through directly occluding neovessels. Early investigations into TAE have demonstrated promising results but questions remain as to the role it might play in the CMP therapeutic arsenal.
