•HAS has a rapid anti-inflammatory effect on acne rabbit ear mode.•HAS inhibits C. acnes, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, inhibits NF-κB/STAT3 pathway.•Anti-inflammatory effects of HAS in acne via TRPV1.•2% HAS is 30% effective for inflammatory rash in mild to moderate acne.
