Abstract

•Synthesis of a new thiobarbiturate ligand and its three Zn(II) complexes.•The prepared compounds were characterized with different analytical techniques such as ATR-FTIR, NMR, and elemental analysis.•The molecular structure of 3 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.•The antibacterial and anticancer activities of the prepared compounds were studied.
