Abstract
•This network meta-analysis evaluated the relative efficacy and safety of different Chinese herbal medicines for women with primary dysmenorrhea.•Of the seven Chinese herbal medicines evaluated, overall Siwu decoction and Wenjing decoction were the most effective for alleviating pain and other dysmenorrhea symptoms.•No serious adverse events from Chinese herbal medicine were observed.
