An automatic pressure control system for precise spray pattern analysis on spray patternator

•An automatic pressure control system was developed and tested on spray patternator.•Performance evaluation of different agricultural nozzles were carried out.•Developed pressure control system was found to be more accurate and responsive than conventional system.•Developed pressure control system exhibited less than 1 % coefficient of variation (CV) in discharge rates.•More consistent spray distribution was obtained for all the nozzles with increasing operating pressure.
