Performance of soluble suppressor of tumorigenicity-2 as a prognostic marker for severe dengue in adults.

•Unnecessary dengue hospitalisations add to healthcare burden and cost.•A cut-off of sST2 levels, 35 ng/ml, was evaluated for severe dengue stratification.•sST2 was sensitive and specific in identifying severe dengue in the febrile phase.•Validation studies in larger populations geographically and age are urgently needed.
