Abstract
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among children ages 10 through 17 years nationwide. Research has shown that a large proportion of youth who die by suicide visit a healthcare provider in the weeks preceding their death. This Symposium will explore the predictive ability of suicide screening of youth in medical settings and other patterns of disclosure of suicidal thoughts and behavior that can inform prevention and intervention strategies.
