Optimizing detection of self-harm in children and adolescents through electronic health record analysis and machine learning

This research aimed to assess the accuracy of ICD-10 codes and the chief complaint in identifying self-injurious thoughts and behaviors among children receiving emergency department care, to identify differences in detection based on demographics and type of self-injury, and to improve detection using machine learning.
