Parental misgendering and gender gaps in the abcd study

Misgendering is a common source of distress for transgender and gender-diverse people (hereafter, trans). Although widely studied in clinical settings with adult populations, the effects of misgendering in the family environment among trans youth are still unknown. Additionally, clinicians have observed an increase of people assigned female at birth (AFAB) among trans youth in recent years, which has yet to be confirmed systematically.
