Adapting a virtual, group, cbt intervention for youth with asd and trauma exposure: results of a pilot study

A dearth of research exists on interventions for youth with ASD who have had traumatic experiences. Among typically developing youth with trauma exposure, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) has been associated with significant reductions in PTSD, depression, and anxiety symptoms ( Jaycox et al, 2018 ). It is possible that these results would extend to youth with ASD. The current study assessed differences in parent- and child-reported PTSD, anxiety, and depressive symptoms before and after a pilot, group-based CBT intervention for youth with ASD.
