Suicidal thoughts and behaviors in preadolescent latinx youth: the role of in-person and online racial discrimination

Racism is a social determinant of health, and it may help explain the disproportionate rise in suicide in ethnoracially minoritized youth. Growing research shows racial discrimination (RD) is associated with increases in suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs), including among Latinx youth. Recent research shows that online exposures to RD is a growing problem among Latinx youth that is also linked to mental health problems. Less is known, however, about the relation between online RD and STBs in Latinx preadolescent youth.
