摘要
This research investigates the use of core rebar and steel fibers as a secondary reinforcement system in reinforced concrete (RC) columns to optimize their load-bearing capacity while reducing their cross-sectional area. By utilizing both Ansys Apdl software and experimental tests, the study analyzes the behavior of short RC columns incorporating this reinforcement technique. The findings of this research demonstrate that the use of core rebar and steel fibers as a secondary reinforcement system in reinforced concrete (RC) columns can significantly enhance their loadbearing capacity by up to 25 %, while complying with code requirements for bar spacing and steel area ratio without necessitating an increase in the column's cross-sectional area. Additionally, this innovative reinforcement technique enhances the column's bearing capacity, providing additional benefits to the structure. The research provides architects and engineers with valuable insights into the potential benefits of using core rebar and steel fibers as a practical and effective solution for optimizing the performance of structures. Effective collaboration between architects and engineers is crucial in achieving a building design that is both safe and highperforming while meeting all necessary requirements. Therefore, the study offers architects and engineers a unique opportunity to enhance the load-bearing capacity of RC columns through innovative reinforcement techniques.
