Abstract
The silver grunt, Pomadasys argenteus (Forsskal, 1775) was recorded for the first time from the Mediterranean Sea, based on a photograph of a specimen captured near the city of Misrata, Libya. The original distribution of this species is Indo-Pacific and includes the Red Sea, and therefore it is considered to be a Lessepsian migrant that reached the Mediterranean via the Suez Canal.
