•ASR expansion increases with the Alkali-Al ratio of pore solution and the reactivity of the used aggregates.•It is feasible to predict ASR risk based on the Alkali-Al ratio of pore solution using thermodynamic modeling.•A ternary diagram was proposed to evaluate the potential ASR risk for PC-SF/MK/FA/GGBS-GP blends.•The efficacy of various SCMs, including MK, FA, GGBS, SF, and GP on mitigating ASR was evaluated.
