Abstract
•The ratio of the chemical bonding force, mechanical bite force, and frictional force at the interface is 1:0.95:0.47.•When the concrete cover thickness, concrete strength, and bond length of the corrugated steel plate are small, increasing them can improve the interfacial slip capacity to a certain extent.•Interfacial bonding damage can be assessed using the relationship between interfacial damage and slip (D–s).•The outside of the inclined web of the corrugated steel plate near the loading end is the first to exhibit interfacial damage that develops towards the free end.
