A semiconducting supramolecular novel Co(II)-metallogel based on 5-aminoisophthalic acid gelator: Toward efficient microelectronic device application

A novel ultrasonication method was successfully employed to prepare a metallogel using 5-aminoisophthalic acid as a low molecular weight gelator and cobalt(II)-acetate in N,N-dimethyl formamide at room temperature. Mechanical properties were analyzed through rheological analysis, microstructure through scanning electron microscopy and EDX mapping, and formation strategy via FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. Crystalline nature was confirmed by PXRD analysis. The gel exhibited a strong semiconducting nature, supported by optical band gap estimation, electronic device characterization, and charge carrier mobility assessment. Remarkably high electron mobility, potentially surpassing reported metallogels, was observed.
