Abstract
This paper investigates an amplify-and-forward (AF) type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) relay assisted multiple input multiple output (MIMO) non-orthogonal multiple-access (NOMA) downlink multi-user communication system. Maximal ratio transmission (MRT) and maximal ratio combining (MRC) diversity techniques are considered. The UAV in the energy efficient system utilizes simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) technology. While the environment is modeled with Rician fading, probabilistic path loss model is also taken into account, considering the channel characteristics of the UAV. Here, outage probability (OP) is studied as a performance analysis criterion, and based on this, exact and approximate expressions for the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the relevant system have been derived. Numerical results have been provided using the approximate SINR expression.
