Research of Fault-Tolerant Control Strategy for Open-End Winding PMSM Under Open-Phase Fault

With its unique winding configuration, the open-end winding permanent magnet synchronous motor (OW-PMSM) inherits a series of advantages of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and has good fault tolerance with dual inverter drive. This paper proposes a fault-tolerant control strategy for open-phase faults in three-phase PMSM powered by a common DC bus. This paper studies the fault-tolerant operation of OW-PMSM under open-phase faults, addressing the most common failure of power devices in electric drive systems. This paper presents a simulation based on dual-inverter Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) under open-phase fault. A proportional resonance controller is employed to suppress the zero-sequence current in the system after the fault, weaken the harmonics produced by the third-order zero-sequence current in the PMSM system, thereby reducing electromagnetic torque ripple and improving the control performance of the system. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
