Targeting Hepatitis B Virus DNA Using Designer Gene Editors
Clinics in liver disease(2023)
Abstract
Development of gene editing technologies has advanced at breakneck speed in the last decade, opening the door to novel treatments of diseases that were previously untreatable. In this age of more personalized medicine, bespoke design of gene editors tailored to a patient's individual circumstances seems just around the corner. With these new technologies, however, does come new challenges, and care must be taken to prevent unforeseen consequences of gene editing and to make sure that the cure is not worse than the disease.
