Abstract
Spasticity is a neuromuscular disease manifested as increased muscle tone. Clinical spasticity evaluation such as the Modified Ashworth Scale or the Modified Tardieu Scale depends on perception and is highly subjective. To improve the objectivity in spasticity evaluation, a multimodal glove is used to quantify the muscle tone. For patients with asymmetric tones present in agonist and antagonist muscles, the glove shows different trends over a two-month monitoring period. This work shows that it is necessary to segment the analysis for different muscle groups as each group may progress differently in treatment.
