Abstract
In order to diagnose the insulation state of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), the optical sensors are applied to detect the partial discharge (PD). The optical signals will be detected when PD occurs in GIS. Then the location of PD can be determined by analyzing these signals. The optical method has a very wide application prospect, because it has the advantages of strong anti-electromagnetic interference ability and low signal transmission loss. In this paper, a location method, based on the optical signals, is proposed in the detection of PD in GIS. The optical simulation is carried out to obtain the propagation characteristics of optical signals exited by PD, and the location of the PD source is determined by analyzing the optical quantity. In addition, the relationship between the location of PD and irradiance is also modeled. The simulation results indicate that the location method of PD in GIS has good performance.
