Torque and Speed Regulation Characteristic Analysis of Axial Permanent Magnet Coupler

As a non-contact magnetic transmission device, the analysis of its transmission torque, especially the maximum torque and starting torque, is very important for the load capacity and starting capacity of the magnetic coupler. In this paper, taking an axial permanent magnet asynchronous magnetic coupler as an example, the effects of changing the thickness and conductivity of the copper disc on the maximum torque, starting torque, and variable load speed regulation characteristics of the magnetic coupler are analyzed by the calculation formula of the transmission torque. Then, a three-dimensional finite element model of the magnetic coupler is established by the finite element simulation software, and the analysis results of the above analytical method are verified by the finite element simulation results, which provides a reference direction for the early design and optimization of the magnetic coupler. The results show that the output speed is abrupt when air gap thickness is between g = 15 and 17 mm; the speed regulation range is small between g = 3 and 15 mm, whereas the speed regulation effect is good between g = 15 and 30 mm.
