•High-strength self-compacting concrete (HSSCC) with various WFS contents were prepared.•Effect of various elevated temperatures on residual mechanical properties was explored.•Thermal gravimetric and microstructural analysis of HSSCC were conducted.•HSSCC specimens replaced by 50% WFS exhibited the excellent self-compacting performance.•Thermal damage evolution behavior of HSSCC-WFS after high temperature was characterized.
