Abstract
•EtOHASR prevented intracellular lipid accumulation in HepG2 cells.•EtOHASR downregulated PPARγ, upregulated CPT1A, FATP2 and HMGCR in palmitate-induced HepG2 cells.•H2OASR reduced intracellular lipid content in steatotic HepG2 cells.•H2OASR upregulated PPARα and PPARγ in steatotic HepG2 cells.•A total of 21 polyphenols, terpenoids and betalains were identified in the extracts.
