A systematic review of the effect of melatonin on mortality in hospitalised patients with COVID-19 in randomised controlled trials

COVID-19 remains a substantial threat to global human health because of its ability to cause oxidative stress, inflammation, and immunosuppression, resulting in widespread morbidity and mortality. One promising treatment for COVID-19 is exogenous melatonin because of its anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant activity.1
