•Cyclic ethanol was used to cool VHCF samples, which improved the cooling efficiency and avoided corrosion.•The remanufacturing method of 2A60 aluminum alloy is innovatively combined with laser welding technology and LSP.•The strengthening mechanism of LSP is discussed in terms of dislocation strengthening and residual stress.
