Abstract
Introduction: Aortic valve neocuspidalization (Av-Neo) aims to replace the three aortic cusps with autologous pericardium pre-treated with glutaraldehyde and is becoming a valid alternative to traditional aortic valve replacement (AVR). 4D-flow cardiac magnetic resonance (4D-CMR) imaging of patients allows the derivation of shear stress on the aortic wall (WSS). Different studies support the presence of a link between increased WSS at 4D-CMR and the presence of histological alterations of the aortic wall. The purpose of the present work was to compare the WSS of the ascending aorta in patients who underwent Av-Neo vs AVR with biological prostheses.
