Mid-Infrared Ethane Detection System Based on TDLAS Technology

Ethane gas is an important raw material for production, and it is important to realize the detection of ethane gas. This paper introduces a mid-infrared ethane gas detection system: using direct absorption spectroscopy (DAS) and wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) for the detection of ethane gas respectively. By standard deviation evaluation, the detection limits of DAS and WMS were 1.0167 ppm and 0.1076 ppm, respectively. The results of the detection show that the WMS has higher accuracy, better linearity, and greater reliability than the DAS. In contrast, the DAS has a lower system complexity and greater potential to reduce system volume.
