Abstract
' Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus' ( C Las) is a non-culturable α-proteobacterium, putatively causing Huanglongbing (HLB), a devastating disease currently threatening citrus production in India and all over the world. Here, we report the whole genome sequence of a C Las strain obtained from the leaf midrib of a HLB-infected Khasi mandarin tree in Assam, India. The draft genome of strain AS-TNSK3 is 1236955 bp with G+C content of 36.5% and harbours both Type 1- and Type 2- like prophages. Annotation of AS-TNSK3 genome identifies 1084 open reading frames (ORFs) and 45 RNA genes. This C Las whole genome sequence is the first report from Northeast India, considered to be the centre of origin of the genus Citrus . Insights from the Indian C Las sequence data would enrich the current C Las genome resources and will facilitate in understanding C Las biology and designing effective HLB disease management strategy.
