The insertion of cities in the configuration of the Amazonia frontier: a study of urban morphology in Carajas region, 2010 - 2020

The article seeks to analyze the creation of centralities and the expansion in the urban morphology of cities in the Carajas region. Spatial patterns are found from the conversion of rural to urban land. The methodology used is the examination of the IBGE street databases through spatial syntax to measure increments in the urban fabric of five cities between 2010 and 2020. The results demonstrate different degrees of integration by intertwining the road and public spaces that make up the old centralities with the road systems of the new ventures which strain urban centers until the establishment of new centralities with the use of public road infrastructure by private real estate developers.
