The production of debrominated aromatics via the catalytic pyrolysis of flexible printed circuit boards

•Bromine free aromatic hydrocarbons were produced from catalytic pyrolysis of FPCB.•The configuration of zeolites and basic metal oxides was effective for aromatics.•HZ (30) exhibited the outstanding performance for the aromatic production.•CaO showed excellent removal of bromine with ∼ 100% debromination efficiency.•CaO-in-situ/HZ (30)-ex-situ configuration was found to be efficient.
