Photonic Multilayers for Broadband and Large Area Superchiral Surface Waves.

We adopt genetic multi-objective optimization to design dielectric multilayers that support superchiral surface waves across a wide range of wavelengths. Our research reveals that it is possible to obtain extremely simple platforms that can significantly enhance the optical chirality in a wavelength range of hundreds of nanometers. Additionally, we demonstrate that this approach enhances the circular dichroism signal by more than two orders of magnitude when a layer of chiral molecules is deposited on top of the dielectric stack. As a result, our findings potentially expand the capabilities of chiral spectroscopies beyond what is usually possible with conventional circular dichroism measurements.
