Abstract
In a world where the price of both close-to-home computing such as workstations, GPUs and CPUs, and public cloud infrastructures is increasing, we need to explore a way in which we can deploy private, cost effective cloud infrastructures that can be used for institutions such as research centers and universities. One such private cloud infrastructure provider is OpenStack, a well rounded and modular private cloud system which allows users to manage virtual machines in the same way as a public cloud provider, such as AWS or Google Cloud. This paper explores how an institution can deploy a private cloud solution inside of their existing infrastructure which can provide support for both their users running virtual machines, but also for administrators to migrate their services to a cost-effective highly available infrastructure.
