摘要
We read with great interest the recent publication by Giganti et al [ [1] Giganti F. Dickinson L. Orczyk C. et al. Prostate Imaging after Focal Ablation (PI-FAB): a proposal for a scoring system for multiparametric MRI of the prostate after focal therapy. Eur Urol Oncol. 2023; (In press)https://doi.org/10.1016/j.euo.2023.04.007 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF Google Scholar ] on the proposed scoring system for prostate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) after focal therapy (FT), Prostate Imaging After Focal Ablation (PI-FAB). The authors propose a comprehensive scoring system to fill this gap on the basis of their experience in reviewing such MRI scans. The authors propose a 3-point scale for detection of recurrent disease at the treatment site for which three sequences (dynamic contrast enhanced [DCE], diffusion-weighted imaging [DWI], and T2-weighted imaging [T2-WI]) are assessed sequentially when interpreting scans. Undoubtedly this scoring provides great value and serves as a first step in the right direction for assessment of mpMRI following FT. At our institute we have been interpreting mpMRI following FT since 2010 and have had similar experience and insights. We would like to contribute some additional observations to further enhance mpMRI assessment following FT.
