Effectiveness, safety and tolerability of perampanel by age group when used to treat people with focal and generalized epilepsy in clinical practice: The PERMIT Extension study

•Perampanel was assessed in 6,822 people with epilepsy treated in clinical practice.•At 12 months, 59% of participants responded to treatment and 24% were seizure free.•No new or unexpected adverse events were observed following long-term treatment.•Perampanel was effective and generally well tolerated regardless of age category.•Perampanel’s effectiveness and tolerability were best in subjects aged ≥65 years.
