Abstract
The objective of this study is to describe hospitalizations of ambulatory care sensitive conditions (ACSC) in Piaui, Brazil, in 2017, and to analyze the relationship between ACSC spending and with the financialresources used with health by the municipalities. This is an ecological and analytical study with data from the Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS). Data on healthcare/inhabitant resource were obtainedfrom the Budgets Public on Health Information System (SIOPS). Statistical analyzes were performed in Stata software. The Pairwise Correlation was used to analyze the relationship between ACSCspending and healthcare/inhabitant resource, with p <0.05. The ACSC represented 23.1% of the total hospitalizations. The majority occurred in the female sex (54.2%), in pardos (45.4%) and in the Meio Norte macroregion. Healthcare/inhabitantresource was, on average, US$ 2,019.80 and ACSC spending was US$ 172.17. In the correlation analysis, although there was significance (p<0.001), the relationship between ACSC spending and health/habitant resource was very low. The results allow a characterization of the ACSC profile in Piaui andmay help health managers and professionals to develop actions, policies and programs that strengthen Primary Health Care.
