A protocol to enumerate total and viable bacterial cells using QUANTOM Tx ™ Microbial Cell Counter

Abstract Accurate quantification of viable and non-viable bacteria is fundamental to most microbiological studies, thus, rapid and simple techniques are required for this purpose. The current protocol describes a procedure using the QUANTOM Tx™ Microbial Cell Counter (Logos Biosciences Ltd., Korea), a novel instrument for the quantitative measurement of total and viable microbial cells in a solution, using several bacterial species including Listeria monocytogenes , Escherichia coli , Campylobacter jejuni and Brucella species.
