摘要
Introduction Chronic inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease can lead to anemia, osteopenia, and an increased risk of fractures. Transferrin receptor 2 (Tfr2) is a major regulator of systemic iron levels, bone mass, and inflammation. We previously showed that Tfr2 deficiency aggravates arthritis development in mice and promotes bone loss by enhancing the inflammatory response of macrophages. Here, we investigated whether Tfr2 is also involved in the progression of colonic inflammation and subsequent bone damage.
