Abstract
This chapter details lower leg anatomy and the most common pathophysiology present in the youth athlete. Medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints), lower leg stress injuries, and exertional compartment syndrome are some of the common injuries in this age group and have key similarities and differences which will be highlighted for identification and management. Fracture management for isolated versus combined lower leg fractures will be explained. Finally common themes for return to play and injury prevention will be reviewed.
